SAFETY ALERT - VERSA STANDS

The VERSA stands are experiencing problems with the "slam latch" on the steps as well as other problems having to do with the catches and locks. Inspect the stands in use and if there is a problem tag them OTS and contact your safety representative. Pictures of the "slam latch" problem can be found HERE.


JOINT SAFETY COMMITTEE/ACCIDENT PREVENTION COUNCIL

Each station must get actively involved in safety committees. The Local has witnessed sporadic participation and while the Company's inablity to follow up on many issues is a concern, the Local Safety Rep cannot help if nothing has been put on record. If you cannot get issues moving in 60 days, forward them to Jim Filippelli to bring appropriate pressure to bear. Contact him via email or cell 310-901-9345. Safety starts with each one of us.

FALL PROTECTION IS NO JOKE

Not all equipment has been modified for fall protection. While AA is responsible for ensuring all equipment has been properly brought up to standards, it is ultimately your responsibility to make sure it is right at the time you use it. No one cares more about you than YOU. Safety walks are underway monthly to help keep track of all equipment. Notify your supervisor and tag equipment that is not operational.
